The SEC is a major college athletic association that is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). SEC football was formed when members of the conference decided to create a new college football league that was compacted to their region. They focused primarily on the southeast and south-central area of the United States. The conference consists of 16 universities such as the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia. To join, teams must meet the NCAA requirements of academic standing and roster minimums.
The 2024 SEC season was full of surprises. Teams considered the weakest suddenly turned out on top. The unexpected wins of teams led to rising excitement and popularity of the already-favored sport. The Georgia Bulldogs’ SEC championship win was unexpected because of the injuries of key players. The team was thought to be the underdog of the match, but they pulled through during overtime.
