While music enthusiasts and fans have known the names Taylor Swift, Benson Boone and Ariana Grande from their top songs, listeners around the world are now adding Sabrina Carpenter to that list. From acting at a young age to recently releasing a new album, Sabrina Carpenter has the top of the charts in just a couple of years, with hit songs “Espresso” and “Manchild.”
Aniyah Robinson (12) enjoyed watching “Girl Meets World” when she was younger because of how memorable the show was.
“I liked ‘Girl Meets World’ because the theme song was so memorable, and Sabrina Carpenter’s performance was great,” Robinson said.
Even at a young age, Carpenter got very involved with acting and musical arts. At 10 years old, she started to post videos on YouTube, a global online platform for users to upload and watch videos, covering songs from various artists. As she continued to post and grow her fan base, Carpenter entered an online singing contest and got third out of over 7,000 entries in 2010. Shortly after, Carpenter got many short roles in acting, including NBC drama series “Law & Order,” leading to a major breakthrough in co-starring in Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World.” In 2015, her connections with Disney led her to sign with Disney’s Hollywood Records to produce her debut album, “Eyes Wide Open.” The album’s mix between teen pop and folk pop led the album to reach No. 43 on the Billboard 200. Carpenter would go on to release four more albums and over 26 singles and covers before her most popular “Short n’ Sweet” album in August of 2024.
In April of 2024, Carpenter released her hit song “Espresso” and soon after “Please Please Please,” which quickly became songs of the summer. According to Spotify, a music streaming platform, “Espresso” was the second most-streamed song for the year 2024. Once the release of the “Short n’ Sweet” hit, Carpenter started her tour in North America. The concerts brought a lot of attention to Carpenter, mostly due to her fashion, lyric changes and surprise songs during performance. According to vnhsmirroir.com, she has an intimate and engaging attitude during her shows, making the audience feel like they are meant to be there.
Not only does the music engage the audience, but the stage set is also meant to give a homely welcome to Carpenters fans. Ric Lipson, an entertainment architect, helped Carpenter with her stage design, explaining how the penthouse welcomed the audience into Carpenter’s life.
“A lot of penthouses in the 1970s would have conversation pits for people to sit around and chat in. There’s something comfortable about it being upholstered and soft, but as well as literally inviting her fans into her home, it also provides a theatrical framework for the show to operate within,” Lipson said.
Since her “Short n’ Sweet” era, Carpenter released her seventh studio album, “Man’s Best Friend,” on Aug. 29, 2025. Keeping fans excited, “Man’s Best Friend” is continuing and growing her pop sound and character. According to billboard.com, the album deepens Carpenter’s artistic persona and vocal rage throughout each song. While listeners are questioning some of her lyrics, as they can come across as explicit for younger audiences, she is still “abiding her weirdo-pop impulses, being driven to make music only she can make.”
Elizabeth Wilson (12) listens to Carpenter because of her relatable songs and understands her talent due to her experience in choir.
“I listen to Sabrina Carpenter because I like the overall vibes of the songs, and they can be really relatable. As a student who’s really involved in choir and who takes voice lessons, I also like the quality of her voice and how she sounds,” Wilson said.
