As the weather warms up and spring rolls around, the track, lacrosse and baseball teams each worked on building their momentum heading into the final stretch of their seasons.
The boys and girls track and field team has proven this season that they are an elite squad and can succeed going into the championship portion of the season. Athletes have been setting countless personal records, meet records and even school records among the Viking track and field team this season. Depth has become one of the team’s strengths, with many younger underclassmen stepping up in key events while returning athletes continue to lead the way. Both the boys and girls teams have put up impressive performances over various meets and will continue to power through the final stretch of the 2026 season.
Jayshun Brown (10) is a standout middle-distance hurdler for the Vikings track team and has enjoyed his time with the team.
“I’m happy with how I have done so far this season, but I trust my coaches and my training that I’m capable of running even faster in the hurdles.” Brown said. “I’m excited to see how we do at state as a team because we know our potential from last season and we are going to carry the same mentality to state this year.”
Meanwhile, the boys and girls lacrosse teams have embraced working together, practicing with each other and competing. The defensive side of the ball on both teams has played a pivotal role with teammates limiting their opponents’ scoring opportunities and causing turnovers. On the offensive end, players have worked together to create scoring chances rather than relying on individual efforts. Both teams finished strong, with the girls winning the State championship.
Saffy Evans (12) is a member of the Viking girls lacrosse team and has played a big role for the team during her time on the team.
“It has been nothing but fun being part of the lacrosse team and I’m glad I was able to make so many memories with this team,” Evans said. “This season has been incredible and the whole team has put in the work to be the best.”
The baseball team has also had an impressive spring with solid pitching and doing well in the hitting department. Pitchers have consistently thrown strikes and minimized walks, allowing the rest of the defense to stay engaged. The Vikings picked up numerous wins in region play, finishing their season top five in the region and top twenty in the state. Pitchers Alex Bright (12) and Connor Mode (12) have put up exceptional stats from the bump, while other position players like Juan Aguair (9) and Charlie McCrory (10) racked up impressive numbers from the batter’s box.
Head coach of the Viking’s baseball team, Jesse Dyar, is pleased with the outcome of the 2026 season and has hopes to keep improving throughout the offseason.
“We have had a great year,” Dyar said. “We started off the season strong and continued to win against tough opponents. McCrory and Aguair have had a great year offensively. Both have hit over the .400 batting average mark. Seniors Mode and Bright have also pitched very well.”
