Ever since Miley Cyrus starred in the popular TV show Hannah Montana, the Cyrus family has rocketed into stardom. Billy Rae Cyrus, Miley’s father, is a famous singer/songwriter in his own right and starred in Hannah Montana as well. Miley Cyrus is known for many hit singles and albums, with her most recent release being Plastic Hearts.  

Dorothy Salley (10) has been a fan of Cyrus since the beginning of her career.

“I believe that her new album is her best – I listen to it nonstop – and her voice sounds incredible in her songs. I love when she covers songs, like ‘Heart of Glass’.” Salley said. “Plastic Hearts, the new album, is more rock, as opposed to her old songs which are more pop. In my opinion she has grown into her new style wonderfully.”  

From her first hit release, “See You Again,” to her latest, Cyrus has been influenced and inspired by a variety of singers, such as Elvis Presley, Madonna, Lana Del Rey and Joan Jett. While Cyrus has been inspired by many famous singers, Cyrus has stated that her idol is none other than Dolly Parton. 

Dolly Parton is not only Cyrus’s idol, but is a part of her family, as she is Cyrus’s godmother. So when Dolly Parton made Times 100 most influential people of 2021 list, Miley Cyrus wrote her profile.

“Dolly is not only my idol because of her incomparable career—she’s also my role model because of her steadfast morals and values. … I remember when she came in to do a table read for Hannah Montana in all her bedazzled glory. Her smell, the way her nails tapped the table, the sound it made when she flipped the pages of the script—I could see that she fascinated other people too. A living fantasy was in front of all of us,” Cyrus said.

Cyrus’s newest album, Plastic Hearts, has strayed from the style of her earlier releases. Plastic Hearts is a mixture of rock, pop, and glam rock with guest vocals of Dua Lipa, Billy Idol and Joan Jett. A hit single of the album, Midnight Sky, was written about her breakups with Liam Hemsworth, Kaitlynn Carter and Cody Simpson. The song reignited her return to the spotlight and was followed by Plastic Hearts, which was been her best album yet.

Cyrus recently co-hosted a 2022 New Year’s Eve party in Miami with her longtime friend Pete Davidson. The party had many star performances, such as Brandi Carlisle and Billy Joe Armstrong. Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party further boosted her fame and had more views than Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve, ringing in the New Year with a bang.  

Maribel Washburn (10) watched Hannah Montana as a kid and is still a fan.

“Cyrus has grown because of Hannah Montana and has developed a new style because of it. now that she owns her own music, she has found her style and flourished because of it. While Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton have quite different styles in music, I believe that they still inspire each other,” Washburn said.

From the very beginning, Cyrus has wowed her audience with her vocals and thought provoking lyrics. With inspiration from Dolly Parton and support from her family, Cyrus has earned her way to the top.
