Lars Harris, Sports Co-Editor

Upstate Munchies is a local food review produced by Dev Patel (12) and Lars Harris (12). Every restaurant we visit will be evaluated on the following criteria: presentation, taste and the likeliness of returning. In our Dev and Lars’ Upstate Munchies Finale we decided to go to a restaurant that held a special place in one of our fellow staffer Will Eaton’s heart. In this May issue we went to Deli Korner, a family-owned market/sandwich shop.

Environment: 9.5/10

Appetizers

For an appetizer, we decided on two pretzels with spicy mustard. The pretzel had a crispy outer shell with a very fluffy and soft inner breading and had a suffice amount of salt on top.

Pretzel Price: $7.00

Dev’s & Lars’ Opinions

Taste 4.4/5

Entrées

For the Entrée Lars had fried pork Bratwurst Sausage on a bun. The meat was smokey with several hints of several different herbs. The sausage had a very bold flavor and was very juicy with a very fluffy and flavorful bun.

Bratwurst:$14.00

Lars’ Opinion

Presentation: 4/5

Taste: 4.6/5

Final Thoughts

Deli Korner exceeded expectations, making the establishment the last to make it on our will return list. The environment of the restaurant is the most unique out of the all the places we have been able to dine at. The restaurant German/Swiss theme restaurant combined with a small store is a hidden gem in the local restaurant market of Spartanburg. The prices are reasonable and overall gets a 4.5 out of 5 on our scale.

– “We are beyond glad to of been able to take everyone on this two-year restaurant journey along with us. Thank you to Spartanburg Regional Law Office, and everyone else who reads our reviews and takes time to check out these local restaurants.”
