Every December, along with Holiday cheer, comes midterm exams. Students panic and struggle to find the best study routine that helps them prepare for back-to-back tests. That’s why I have compiled the best study tips to help you perform your best.
The first tip I have for you is to switch it up. According to shorelight.com, spending too much time on a single subject could make you lose your concentration. Instead, spend about 30 minutes on a subject then take a quick five-to-ten-minute brain break and return to studying a different subject. This method ensures that brain fatigue won’t prohibit you from cramming all the knowledge in your head that you can.
Secondly, it is constructive to gather a group of friends to study together. You can answer each other’s questions and help one another understand a topic more thoroughly, although it is important to choose a group of people that will focus on the tasks at hand. Topuniversities.com describes study groups as, “One of the most effective ways to challenge yourself.”
Another important key to success is to set specific goals for yourself. These goals can be simple, for example, “I will study from 4-6 p.m. every day this week.” However, it is wise to keep your goals realistic. Not many people will study eight hours every day. Instead, learn your brains habits and know when you reach your limits.
Remember, the best thing you can do for yourself is to set yourself up for success. This means try to get enough sleep the week before and of your exams, feed your brain with healthy food and focus to the best of your abilities. Good luck!
