“The Hurricane Wars” is a relatively new novel, published October 3, 2023, by Thea Guanzon. It is a classic good versus evil, light versus dark plot line with a spark of romance. The book follows two main characters, switching between Alaric and Talasyn’s points of view.
Alaric, the son and only heir to the Night Empire, is tasked by his father to lead armies and cut through all those opposing the Night Empire’s reign. His nation has the power to forge shadows into weapons that demolish their opponents. The only people who could stop their dominance over the nations are the light weavers, but Alaric’s father eradicated all the light weavers years ago. Or so he thinks.
Talasyn is an orphan who finds her place in the army defending her nation from the Night Empire. Little does the Night Empire know, she alone has the power to break through their shadows and bring back light to the world because she is a light weaver.
While engaged in a fight, Talasyn and Alaric learn that their magic reacts to one another’s in a way never seen in their world before. They realize they alone could be the key to saving the world.
Each side of the battle has been told different stories about why this war started, so each side believe their reason to be most important. The only way for the Hurricane Wars to end is for these two enemies to join together and forge a new empire. Can they overcome their intense hatred for one another to save their countries?
