The rise in the use of AI among students has increased over the years as the technology has advanced since its creation.
Drake Vaughn (10) has not used “DeepSeek” yet but thinks the creation would not be good economically.
“I don’t know much about “DeepSeek,” but from what I do know, I don’t think it’s good news for anyone, regardless of whether they support AI or not. The amount of censorship it has exceeds the censorship of other similar sites and can be inconvenient or misleading to unaware users,” Vaughn said.
The newly developed software by a team of Chinese technological scientists and engineers was first introduced earlier this year. Unlike most artificial intelligence systems, “DeepSeek” was given the ability to do multiple tasks at once. For example, it can write a research paper, solve complex math equations and write a poem simultaneously. Developers at “DeepSeek” claim that the new system can process information faster than the human brain, making it a valuable resource for people to use.
Some may ask whether it’s good to use AI for school. If a student is using computer intelligence to cheat, it’s not the greatest option, but it is accurate and helpful. However, “DeepSeek” allows the user to ask the software to make study plans and highlight articles given by instructors, which can be seen as a good use of the technology.
James Burton (12) thinks AI is helpful not only in a school setting but also in life in general.
“AI can be a fun tool sometimes if you’re bored. People can ask AI to make generated pictures of whatever they please, and it could be a good use of entertainment,” Burton said.
The rise of AI has its pros and cons. However, speculation has arisen about the idea that people may be relying on AI too much in their everyday lives. Some think that computer intelligence could take away creativity and originality. One of the biggest fears over technology is the risk of certain jobs being taken by AI. “DeepSeek” states that its only goal is to help and assist people, not to replace work but to help people learn new skills and discover more.
As society glimpses into the future, people wonder where the advances of artificial intelligence may take humans. The fact that AI could potentially serve as workers in certain professions scares individuals. However, the future is open to even more technological advances.
