Burg’s Kitchen: March Issue

Lars Harris and Dev Patel

Burg’s Kitchen is a local food review produced by Dev Patel (11) and Lars Harris (11). Every restaurant visited will be evaluated on the following criteria: presentation, taste and the likeliness of returning. In this issue, Lars and Dev went to Burrito Hub in downtown Spartanburg.

We visited Burrito Hub at 6:40 p.m. on a Friday. The restaurant was quite small and had a rustic, industrial look throughout the seating area. The atmosphere was busy with many customers coming in and out. The menu was large and written in chalk against the restaurant’s wall to make it easily viewable for all the customers in line. The menu had entrées and desserts that were accommodating to vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Environment: 7/10

Appetizers

For appetizers the selection was limited, so Lars had the Nacho Fries for a total of $10.50, and he shared them with some other friends. The cheese was bland with little to no flavor.

Entrées

Dev had a custom veggie burrito with jalapeños, bell peppers, onions, white rice, black beans, pico de gallo, guacamole and queso for a total of $10.75. The burrito looked like a typical burrito but was pretty big and could fill you up easily. The ingredients were fresh and appetizing, as each one made the burrito’s savory taste come together well.

Lars got the California Burrito. It was also pretty big with fantastic guacamole, steak, fries and egg. It lived up to the hype of the restaurant and was a total of $10.50.

Dessert

For dessert, we recommend is the Tres Leches for a total of $5. The sponge cake is layered with three different types of milks that are absorbed by the cake to create the fluffy and soft texture.

Final Thoughts

We personally enjoyed the local business, which is great for a quick place to grab some food while downtown. The service is always great. In conclusion, the prices at Burrito Hub really depend on what one gets as they are in between the low and mid-range ($-$$). Overall, the location has earned a spot on the ‘would return” list with a ranking of 4/5.
